Need some Advice Ladies!

I am going to start potty training my little one and need some advice on how to get started and where to begin.
I have read many many blogs on potty training and tons of articles on how to get started. I have many family members giving me tips but none has worked at this point. My son is 20 months old. He is showing signs of moving to the next step. He will let me know when he has a dirty diaper. His diaper is dry when waking up. From everything that I have read those are good starting points. I also have heard boys are a little bit more on the slower on when it comes to P.T.

I recently have been accepted to school and I start in Sept. I would like to get my son some what potty trained from now until school starts. Or at least get him started in the right direction.
Any helpful tips is much needed and very appreciated!

7 tips for making Love last

Although the mystery of love may never be fully explained, there are some common threads running through good relationships.
There are seven tips on making a relationship work. They are as follows:
1. Self-acceptance and personal Growth
2.Good Communication
3. Ability to face conflict effectively
4. Realistic expectations
5.Commitment
6. Shared Dreams and/or interests
7. Appreciation to each other.

SELF-ACCEPTANCE AND PERSONAL GROWTH
Many relationships fail because the people don't love themselves. You have to love yourself before you can love anyone else. There are things you have to accept as YOU and love yourself before you can do the same with your partner.

GOOD COMMUNICATION
You have to be able to discuss anything with your partner. You have to be will to listen to your partner. I have heard people say you talk to much. Well its a great thing to talk. Its a basic foundation in your relationship.

ABILITY TO FACE CONFLICT EFFECTIVELY
Tackle crises together as one. Life is life things will happen unexpectedly and you both have to decide what is best for the both of you.

REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS
Don't expect something out of your relationship that is not going to happen. Love is not all fairy tales and butterflies. Have realistic expectations for your mate, relationship and yourself.

COMMITMENT
Couples who are committed to working together on their changing and evolving relationship have the best chance of maintaining their love and their growth. Every relationship will encounter some difficult times. But the commitment to yourself, to your partner and to your relationship will get you through.

SHARED DREAMS AND /OR SHARED INTERESTS
The more interest you take in your partner or spouse the more you will get out of your relationship. You will enjoy your time together and have more enjoyable conversations. You dreams are the same you both will be together but want different things and that is ok.

APPRECIATION OF EACH OTHER
In relationships we hit a comfort zone where some people think well I married her or him and I don't have to impress or really try anymore. Well thats a wrong way of thinking. Once couples get into that way of thinking you neglect him or her.
Being appreciating seems an easy thing to do. Most couples you talk to will say that they feel as though they are taken for granted.
Think about it what have you done to make your spouse feel appreciated lately? Make an effort to make them feel appreciated.

Busy Few Days

The past few days have been unexpectedly busy. My husband had left work earlier than expected to. Which is great because I knew he would be working the next 4 days straight 16 hour shifts. No fun. Dawson and I won't get to see much of him.
However the past few days we just family days. Derek and I yesterday weeded our garden it soo needed it bad. We planted our tomato plants into the Topsy Turvey which this year is the first to do so. So we will see how they turn out. Let me mention by the way that I didn't know they were so sensitive when transplanting them from one location to another. I thought we had killed our tomato plants when we were finally done but they perked up after 6 hours. I usually make homemade salsa and speghetti sauce every year. Huge savings!!
So we moved different plants around to make sure we had enough room for everything to grow. We did however had to pull up 8 tomato plants that had been growing from last years plants that never came up. That was a bummer.
We played the Wii! Its so funny we can play for hours and then the next day we have Wiiitis is what we call it. We feel like we did a huge workout the night before because we really get into it.
Then today me wanting to up date my blog about relationship stuff I ended up getting side tracked by reading all the amazing blogs I follow. I entered so many GiveAways! I love it.
Everyone have a great day!!

Our Quality Time

The last post I had posted on was spending Quality time with your spouse. Well my wonderful husband and I have a fire pit outside and decided that we could spend a few hours out by the fire. He has been wanting to do this for at least a week. He knows that when we sit outside by the fire we can talk for hours and relax.

Well he was right! lol It was an hot earlier that day and was wondering if it was going to cool off a bit for us to really enjoy the fire. Then night time fell and it was just perfect to have one.
I tucked Dawson in bed and Derek went out started the fire we grabbed a glass of wine and just relaxed. Where we live its very quite so it was us, the fire and nature. Very peaceful and much needed couple time. But in those 2 hours of just sitting there talking to one another we connected and talked about things we needed to get off our chest. Its was amazing. I realized that life is what we make of it and life can slow down if YOU make the TIME.
Who knows what holds tomorrow. Did you spend time with the ones you love or did you let life and hectic schedules rule your life?

Couple Time Should Be A Priority

How many couples now a days spend good quality time together? Some do and some could careless. Which category do you and your partner or spouse fall in? With today's crazy lifestyle booked with a full schedule it's hard to do some days.
Most couples have high demands such as juggling a career, going to school, children, school activities, family time. I could give a huge list but you get the point.
With a full pact day this leaves very few hours to spend with your significant other.
Here are some tips that might help with everyday's busy schedules.
Everyone has house work and yes it has to be done. But why do most women have to do it? Men can help. Instead of thinking your spouse will not help ASK for it. Cook dinner together make it a fun time to talk about your day. Your weekend plans, family trips you make take in the near future. Fold laundry together yes it has to be done but there is time to sit and chat.
Most household someone goes to the gym make it a couple thing. Find a babysitter and go to the gym 2 to 3 times a week.
Get another couple to go out to dinner make it a double date where you have friends to chat with but yet also being with your spouse.
The more "Quality" time that you invest and make a priority the happier your relationship will be.
Simple things to daily that does mean a lot show interest in your partner, kiss one another, hug each other be appreciative.
Of course I can't leave out the bedroom scene. This is a must make time for Sex! This is your time to really connect with your partner. Enjoy one another. You have to have that physical intimacy it's important to keep your marriage and relationship alive.
So when was the last time you spent "Quality" time with your spouse or partner?
Here is your time to make time!

Is Honesty The Best Policy?

Honesty and Trust are a foundation in a marriage. It's a vital part in making a marriage successful. Wanting to have honesty and being honest does not mean you have to share every thought that you think, or every fear or even every dream you have. Knowing what couples want to share with one another is a skill that couples learn to use to have a good marriage.
Having honesty in your marriage , you and your spouse are aware of each other's likes and dislikes. What areas our your relationship that are weak and needing to be worked on. It also will help you and your spouse understand each other.
The big question is "Are you or your spouse completely honest?"
Here are some questions that you and your spouse can ask one another.
1. What are you feeling about your current situation kids, career, is your marriage where you want it to be?
2. Both of your pasts former lovers, Dreams and Mistakes, What you have achieved in life?
3. Your tomorrows- your future goals as a couple, future goals for each individual, family.

Being honest in your marriage can cause arguments. When trying to have an honest conversation do both of you have an open mind? Are you disrespectful to one another. Is this a topic that you avoid. But remember without honest in your relationship it will fail.

A New Theme

I have decided to start writing about and giving facts about marriage. I feel that there are so many couples out there that are scared to get married, marriage, kids, talking to each other, sex and its helpful to read article and other peoples experiences.
I feel that divorce now days are easier than ever and the term DIVORCE is not always the answer. I want to help people with reading material that will give them answers.
Give weekly tips and help keep your marriage strong and healthy. A lot of people blog about their personal journey's and thats great. I want to just give helpful tips on being married, sex, dating.

If you have suggestions on what you would like to see please post comments. I want to see what other moms out there want to read more of when it comes to Marriage, Sex and Dating.

Awesome Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Yesterday I decided to bake some cookies. I have been craving good oatmeal cookies that usually someone's grandma would usually bake. I have tried many recipes over the years and there are a few that was good but not outstanding. I found a recipe that is like old fashion oatmeal cookies.

Here is the recipe for all those oatmeal cookie lovers! Enjoy!

1/2 pound (2sticks) margarine or butter, softened
1 Cup firmly packed Brown Sugar
1/2 Cup of granulated Sugar
2 Eggs
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1-1/2 Cups of All purpose Flour
1 teaspoon Baking Soda
1 teaspoon of Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of Salt (optional)
3 Cups of Oats quick or old fashion, uncooked
1 cup of Raisins

Heat the oven to 350 F
Beat together margarine and sugars until creamy.
Add eggs and vanilla; beat well.
Add combined flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt; mix well.
Stir in oats and raisins; mix well.
Take an ice cream scooper or drop rounded tablespoons onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 12-14 mins or until done.

I ended up adding chocolate morsals and 1 cup of peanut butter. But that is optional!

Lemon for thought

I went out to lunch today with a couple of my girlfriends and we had the discussion on our drinks at the table.
I had water with Lemon in it and they asked me what the health benefits were. I thought I would share them with you. Many people dont realize that lemon water is very good for you. Squeezing a lemon in your drink doesn't just give it flavor and quenching your thirst.

Lemons are full of Vitamin C. So if you were to squeeze the entire lemon into your water that lemon has more vitamin C then an orange itself.

So the next time you sit down at a resturaunt order water with slices of lemon!

My blackberry

I have wanted a Blackberry for so long and now have one. To all the moms out there who run a home business this is the toy to get. This has made my life so much more easier in the past 3 days since I have had it.
I do a lot of social networking around the clock and not always around a computer due to household cleaning, chasing my 16 month old around the house and working on my home business.
My new toy is here and it was so easy to set up and get started. But it sends all me my email updates around the clock, my texts all of my apps like twitter, facebook, myspace and many more.
I am such a kid in a Candy store. My husband said that for the past 3 days I have ignored him which I haven't but he wants me to make a scheduled appointment time to spend time with him. Lol It's my latest addiction.
The little things in life that are fun and bring a smile to your face.

My Garden

When you work at home and have a toddler running around you really don't have time to do anything. Life is just crazy.
Here is something I have started every year to keep me centered. I plant a garden every year. My main reason is I am starting to eat healthy. I love to go out every morning and just tend to my garden. I usually plant green peppers, Baby watermelon, Squash usually its (Butternut) my favorite. I plant strawberries, tomato (I make homemade sauce) Fresh herbs.

My second reason for planting a garden is you save money. I love organic fruits and veggies and hate paying expensive prices at the stores so plant your garden. If I want something I haven't planted then I go and buy at my local Farmers Market. Support your local Farmers!!

Food For Thought

I am addicted to this show that Jamie Oliver is doing. He has a show called Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution and what its about is Jamie trying to put healthy food in our children's school. Our children's generation is suppose to have a shorter life span due to all of the health issues they face. Mainly unhealthy eating in America today. Of course its been going on for a long time but now there are fast food places with in 2 miles of your house. Crazy as it sounds but its so true.

But Jamie Oliver is trying to make a change. Visit http://abc.go.com follow the links for his show and take action. Parents need to sign his petition to improve our children's school food. Its free and it takes only 10 mins of your time to sign it. It will help change the future for our children.
Everyone have a great weekend!!

Volunteer It Helps

This year I decided to a lot of things that I wouldn't normally do. For starters I want to really help others and actually make a difference. So I started to volunteer. I just did some research in my town that I live in and went to a few places to find out information. I went to my library asked if they needed help. I now read on Tues, Weds, Sat afternoon to children for story time. I meet moms, my son meets new friends and better yet its free! I also help with my church on care packages. Sending supplies to the troops. They always need supplies mainly phone cards to call their families back home. They need music, books to read. This helps their time fly by when they are away from their families. The latest project has been sending care packages to Haiti. Medical supplies, food and Clean water. Cotton balls, gauze, Plastic gloves. My heart goes out to all the families in Haiti. If you can help then help its for a good cause.
The last way to Volunteer is The Red Cross. They always need an extra set of hands. I hope people have huge hearts to help others like I have and it does make a difference when you see it the other persons eyes!

Enjoying the Weekend

Today is the start of the weekend. Hubby has been on vacation for the last week. He went out to run some errands and came home with pink roses for me! It was sweet and thoughtful. Of course I was in shock. At the time I was putting together our pot roast for dinner. My husband is so good to me! I love him very dearly.
We both have been working on the website for my home business. Its coming along very well. I have learned a lot about codes, backlinks, blogs social networking. Things I would have probably never done if you asked me 3 years ago. Its been been a huge learning experience.
We decided last minute to have a small get together at the house because as well all know I am a huge Football fan. Love watching the COLTS!! I was born and raised in Hoosier state and love the Colts!
Tomorrow is an early day. Church is tomorrow and its going to be a busy day. I hope everyone has had a great weekend so far. Be safe God Bless!

A New Year A New Me

A new year has started and so many goals set in place. Working on my home business and trying to get it up and going. Finding new ways to market. At the moment working on my personal website. So many things I have learned in the past month about links to blogs, social networking etc..
Second of all making more time for my family. I worked outside the home and didn't realize the impact of my son and not being home with him. My marriage was rough, I wasn't in tune with my home life at all. I always had my mind outside the home. I now make family time more important.
Third I am making a new Me. Doing things this new year that I wouldn't have never done before. Getting out of my comfort zone. I am going to try to help more with my community, would like to do a Breast Cancer Awareness walk, Help with the March of Dimes Convention. Just give back more of me this year. Most importantly a better way to live my live through Christ!
