Need some Advice Ladies!

I am going to start potty training my little one and need some advice on how to get started and where to begin.
I have read many many blogs on potty training and tons of articles on how to get started. I have many family members giving me tips but none has worked at this point. My son is 20 months old. He is showing signs of moving to the next step. He will let me know when he has a dirty diaper. His diaper is dry when waking up. From everything that I have read those are good starting points. I also have heard boys are a little bit more on the slower on when it comes to P.T.

I recently have been accepted to school and I start in Sept. I would like to get my son some what potty trained from now until school starts. Or at least get him started in the right direction.
Any helpful tips is much needed and very appreciated!

The way we got my little girl started, was buying a potty chair, putting it in the living room, and having her sit on it when she was watching tv. Then whenever she'd go we'd clap, and yell yea! She thought it was great, and eventually caught on. We also let her put a sticker on the potty seat when she'd go, she liked that too! I hope that helps some! :)

It things are going to change very soon he might back track. Some kids use potty training as a form of control for them so I wouldn't push it if he starts fighting you. My boys didn't potty train until 3 or 4 and all my girls were trained the week before they turned 2... Take his lead.

I'm going through this right now (In fact it's a blog http://mothershideaway.com/blog/2010/07/16/the-world-would-be-better-in-diapers/.html)

What I ended up doing is just making it a game. We bought him a ring for the toilet (he didn't like having his own little seat) and each time he peed he got a sticker/candy (whichever he asked). I stayed home for a few days and let him roam in underwear (that he picked out) and when he made a mess he cleaned it up himself (I went back after and cleaned and sterilized the area). He's basically pee potty trained and we're working on poop. Hopefully, with time we'll get there!

Oh and don't push it. If he's not ready he'll let you know!

Thanks ladies for the helpful tips. Yes he is not fighting it just not interested fully yet. But I put him on a the chair at least twice a day. Just to get him into it.

My advice? NAKED!!!!! And make him sit on the potty every 12 minutes. Best, too, to have a big prize at the end, that he will work toward being fully potty trained for, than to have a treat each time he potties. I've trained 3 andi it worked for me each time.

Now following from MBC. I'd love for you to come and follow me back! www.becauseidontscrapbook.blogspot.com (my mainstream mom blog) and/or www.thegossamerjewelbox.blogspot.com (my fictional fairy blog, just for fun!) Thanks!
